New York, New York
Mr. Cabdriver, don’t no what to do
I’m a rtranger here, I don’t no whereto
He seemed to be from Bangladesh
He know one word of English……….Cash!
And the elevator man I give him one buck
As he went away I heard him say; “f*k”
One week later, the same guy again
I give him a fiver. He said I was his friend
chorus:
And it’s a madman hidden in every knife
There’s craziness in everyone’s life
You swivel, you go delirious
New York, New York like this
Hard to take serious
The aircooled guys they run the universe
Back in the alleys or even worse
See them come for fortune and fame
These too young kids
With less than a name
chorus:
And it’s a madman hidden in every knife
There’s craziness in everyone’s life
You swivel, you go delirious
New York, New York so hard
When it gets serious
I’ve been loved up, spit out, same time around
I thougt I made a friend but I lost that ground
Knocked down, picked upand used for more
They say it’s all in a dollar, dear
Sweatheart, honey, on love score
chorus:
And it’s a madman hidden in every knife
There’s craziness in everyone’s life
You swivel, you go delirious
New York, New York like this
Hard to get serious

Moon over the Wing

Moon over the Wing
Leaving from Atlanta, homeward bound again
Taking off I still get the shivers now and then
High above the ocean I imagine the wales
But most off all I recall them air hero tales
chorus:
There’s a moon over the wing, hello Ginger, hello Algie
Moon over the wing, hello Miss Earhart, how are you
And thity thousand feet down below
The coastline of Ireland’s got to show
Over the wing, how I cling
People say I’m crazy, yes some people think I’m strange
As if I look at things from a different range
But just a few more miles up in this blackened blue
I’m afraid I might become extraterrestrial too

Maureen
Maureen, Maureen I’m strangled by my younger days
Maureen, Maureen, I’m moving turns in the strangest ways
Around you Maureen
Am I a hawk or a falcon
Do I look with the right kind of eye
Am I the wind around your house Maureen
Or am I just an old song passing by
On the grass, on the grass
I see the pictures of my youth
You’re standing there the way you are
You’re laugh’s committing a crime, called truth
Maureen. Maureen, oh the seasons go so fast
Some day my soul will go
Through your mind in circles, wider and wider
Becoming past

Sailor's home

Sailor’s Home
Burning rubber smell, down at the Winning bar
Get the girls in, get the furs out
Stall’m in the back of the car
No one looking at us, in this gangster play
Who am I and who are you
And where are we going to stay ?
One day, one night at the sailor’s home
Tell me where and when, we’d give ‘m hell again
But then again
One day, one night, such a short poem
Tell me where and when, hell again
On the tables we dance, ain’t driving home tonight
And all the glitter on your strangely shining in the UV light
Let’s go out on the street, just a kiss will do
Pting-a a-ring-a, the walls keep singing and
I bless the stars for blessing you
Free is a four letter word and so it past
Just a song on a rainy night
Is all that’s going to last

How many seconds
03:34
|
|||
How many seconds
Back and forth I go from work to pub
Hello to you my drinking home
Can you bear it love, every day, five stairs up to be alone
How many seconds between the words does a secret need to
How many whispers in a chord get to you ?
Down the stairs you go every day
To find a letter, just a card
The sparkles in your eyes don’t tell no lies
They’re morse signals from your heart
Can you hear the blossom falling down on the bridge, every day ?
How many bars in a verse ?
There’s a song for everyone, there’s a song for being nude
There’s a song for shivers and for solitude
Here’s a song to make your strong, here’s a song to get along
Thin blue notes they’ll wrap you up the way they do
So many songs are sung, so many heads are hung

Brilliant People

Briljant people
Listen darling, you don’t have to cry
There’s no reason, nor answer to the question why
If this love is true
We’ll someshow see it trough
‘ Cause you and I can’t lie
Wake up darling, wake up now
Clear your face, come on change that brow
If you want to survive
Sweep that suffering from your eyes
Your time is coming now
Listen darling, I’m not an ordinary man
You’re the only one in this entire land
What’s going to be; are we cowards, are we free ?
Like only briljant people can
Things ain’t what they seem, make room for a dream
Listen darling you don’t have to cry
You no darling, you and I, we ain’t born
For all that hate, all that jealousy, anger and scorn
If you set me free, you’re soon going to see
That love can melt the Matterhorn
Melt down the mountain

This time
03:55
|

This time
I’m going down to Zealand, south of delta
Flushing is the city for me
In the foggy morn’
I hear the sound of horns
Of the ships trying to see
And I gambled once and I gambled twice
Threw many a dime
But the morning sun on my early eyes, I sat
This time, this time, this time
Down on the coastline, down on the boulevard
See the storm on the shore
I had the vision bright, a collision wild
No store around no more
And I knew that time would wipe and wash
Whatever man could do
And it made me hold and turn again, saying
This time, this time, this time
This time tunes assembling in the breeze coming from sea
The wind organ starts strembling, singing this time
I’ll be free
Well mother nature, she makes me feel insecure
Whatever kill, whatever thrill, she’s always right and pure
But then sudden spin of a gentle wind
You’ve never felt before
Is gonna make you hold and turn again, saying
This time, this time, this time

Solemn Vow

|

Solemn vow
Well, there’s a little bit of city
Slippin’ through the door
Is that you car, the click clack of your heels
Tappin on the floor
Crickets on the wall
And that nowhere sound
While the fan keeps swinging its silent circles
Round, round, round
Your solemn vow, solemn vow
Solemn vow you said you’d be mine
Be be mine
Too much space in this jacket
Too much space in this shirt
As there was little space between you and me
The night that I heard
Your solemn vow, solemn vow
Solemn vow you said you’d be mine
Be be mine

Rice's Crossing

Rice’s Crossing
From Manor to Taylor, way up North
The Nova’s riding fine
The New Sweden cemetery is scibbled as in one line
On the horizon
I’m coming near to some trees, a barn, some farmers gear
I parked my car at Rice’s Crossing
Is it the spring or is it the space or what I left behind
I left the illness of the city for this stillness in my mind
Shake of the miles, shake those monkeys from my back
I can stand the black cat at Rice’s crossing
Here they come, them moped rides
Holding my father tight
I’m hearing ghosts and demons in the drone
Of the sound that fills the forest night
Dark days of the honest killer
The Roman lost between moor and moon
Shining on my cap and boyish fears
At Rice ‘s Crossing
From the first wrong kiss to the first big loss
To your first real blush and the first real sigh
I started dwelling through the fields
I heard a lark sing way up high
Sing to me about jumping fish, some more summer wine
And I’ll drink to all them days of mine
And I fall for you

Loving
03:28
|
|||
Loving
I listen to you many times a day
But I read your lips in a different way
And at night we meet at the bar
We both agree that love is war
And I’m thinking what to do
Tenderly distroying you
Loving, loving
Well my thinking was right but my willing seemed a bit strong
Estimated the situation and you a bit wrong
I believed what you said about believing in me
One of the things that you’d like to see
But the last time that you ran, you left me fighting windmills again
Loving, loving
When I think it’s all gone you come with your smile
You’re wicked in a way ‘cause you make me feel like I was a child
You’re unpredictable and dominant, are you a natural phenomenon
But I tremble just the same, can’tremember my own name
When you come loving, loving
